Despite the distance of the city from another world, Astana can be reached easily by airplane, from any points of the planet. The Nursultan Nazarbayev International Airport was founded in 1931 as a small airport for servicing small aircrafts. However today, after almost 90 years, it is one of the modern air complexes on the Eurasian continent. Every day it holds up to 130 flights to regions of near and far abroad. It serves as a harbor for the aircraft of 23 airlines performing regular passenger flights. The airport capacity is up to 7 million passengers per year. It is certified by the International Civil Aviation Organization of ICAO.

The station was erected long before the transfer of the capital and is located on the right bank of the Yesil River. In 2003, the station was reconstructed, due to the increase in the number of passengers. One of the country's main transport gate passes 4,500 passengers daily.
